The meadow in the front garden in mid-July. It is beginning to look a bit rough here after a summer of rain storms and gales.
This shot is looking east. The two trees on the left (north) are silver birches. The meadow receives sun for most of the day in the summer. In the winter, the house casts shade during the afternoon. Wind from the west blows across the meadow so it is not as sheltered as I would like. The soil is formed on boulder clay. The white flowers in bloom are wild carrot and the brown blob just right of centre is Oscar, one of our pet cats.
